Chemical & Vat Leaching Tanks For The Mill Recovery Enhancement Project

13 Nov 2017

We provided quality tanks solutions for GRE Engineering at Cosmic Boy in Western Australia.

In 2018, we played a key role in the Cosmic Boy Mill Recovery Enhancement Project in Western Australia by providing multiple chemical and vat leaching tanks.

Our expert team at GRP Tank Solutions manufactured custom solutions with carefully-selected materials to ensure long-term protection against leaching media.

The Mill Recovery Enhancement Project

GR Engineering designed, constructed and commissioned the Cosmic Boy concentrator plant for Western Areas in 2009. Located 100km southeast of Hyden, this concentrator was subsequently upgraded in capacity in 2011.

The vat leaching process

Tank and vat leaching involves placing ore, usually after size reduction and classification, into large tanks or vats at ambient operating conditions containing a leaching solution and allowing the valuable material to leach from the ore into solution.

Vat leaching tanks are rectangular containers, usually very big and need to be lined with material resistant to the leaching media. The treated ore is usually coarse.

Our solution

GRP Tank Solutions supplied eight 230,000L vat leaching tanks and seven chemical tanks.

The leach tanks were manufactured in two sections at our Bibra Lake facility in Western Australia, with final assembly completed on site at Forrestania.

All tanks were manufactured and materials selected to ensure long-term protection against the specific chemicals they were holding.

If you need a durable chemical and/or vat leaching tank for your project, please get in touch with our team and we’ll provide a tailored solution for your requirements.
