Features

Tank Solutions makes double-wall fibreglass underground tanks in Australia. The outer wall protects against product loss and groundwater contamination if the primary wall leaks.

360° secondary containment

The outer wall contains the primary wall completely, protecting groundwater if the primary wall ever leaks.

Hydrostatic leak monitoring

Truchek® monitoring of the interstitial space gives continuous leak detection and meets EPA requirements.

Integral rib design

Ribs are formed into the wall to add strength.

3D fibreglass technology

Parabeam 3-dimensional fibreglass adds strength and durability to both walls.

Rust-proof, maintenance-free

Virgin resins and glass with no fillers, so there’s no corrosion inside or out.

Multi-compartment

Up to four separate compartments, with integral double internal walls between them.

Where it’s used

  • Service station forecourts: new builds, upgrades and tank replacements
  • Truck stops and fleet refuelling
  • Bulk underground fuel storage
  • AdBlue compartments alongside diesel

Pair it with

  • An Aquator® oil–water separator for forecourt runoff
  • FRP risers: 1,200 mm collars standard on pressure systems
  • Out-of-hole tie-down system for anchoring

Where a steel structural tank is preferred, Glasteel® II pairs a welded steel tank with an FRP outer wall that fully encloses it, so the steel never touches soil or groundwater and needs no cathodic protection. See also single-wall FRP.

Datasheets & guides

Installing a double-wall tank

Install to the FRP double-wall installation manual (TD_IM_004). Our technical team can advise on burial depth, anchoring and wet-hole installs.

Minimum cover over the tank

Dry holeCover
No traffic600 mm backfill, or 300 mm backfill + 100 mm reinforced concrete
Traffic1,000 mm backfill, or 450 mm backfill + 150 mm reinforced concrete

  • Installed by an accredited installer; non-accredited installs void the warranty
  • Backfill with washed pea gravel (10–20 mm) or crushed stone (10–14 mm) to AS 2758, no more than 5% passing 2.36 mm
  • Anchor with concrete deadmen or an anchor slab, with straps at the marked positions
  • At least 450 mm between tank and excavation wall in stable ground; half the tank diameter in unstable ground

Common questions

Can’t see yours? Call NSW +61 2 4964 8270 or WA +61 8 9434 1707.

With Truchek® hydrostatic monitoring, the space between the walls is filled with brine, and a reservoir on top of the tank holds it at a set level. It gives continuous leak protection and lets the owner do a visual tank tightness test. The system meets EPA requirements.
Yes. Tanks come with 1 to 4 completely separate compartments, depending on size, so several grades share one tank and one excavation.
Tanks are manufactured to meet or exceed UL 1316, the standard for fibreglass (FRP) underground tanks. Installation venting must comply with AS 1940 Section 5.4, with post-installation testing to AS 4897.
Petrol, diesel, jet fuel, Avgas, kerosene, fuel and motor oils; ethanol blends (E10, E85) and M85; petrol with up to 20% MTBE or similar ethers; biodiesel blends up to B20; water and sewage, all at ambient temperature.
30 years against failure from internal corrosion, and 30 years against structural failure when a qualified contractor performs and validates the installation. Materials and workmanship are covered for 1 year.
An accredited installer from our installer directory. An installation by a non-accredited installer voids the warranty, and the completed checklist must reach us within 30 days.
Up to 2.1 m of cover over the top of the tank. The minimum in a dry hole is 600 mm of backfill with no traffic, or 1,000 mm with traffic (less with a reinforced concrete slab). For wet holes, contact us.
No. Pump or pressure filling isn’t allowed, because overfill or over-pressurisation could occur. Venting must comply with AS 1940 Section 5.4 and AS 4897.
Double-wall gives full secondary containment and interstitial monitoring. Where that isn’t needed, such as water or some AdBlue installs, a single-wall FRP tank is lighter and quicker to install.
