How our chemical tanks are built

GRP Tank Solutions has more than 30 years in FRP chemical storage. Repeat clients include chemical suppliers such as Ixom, miners and refiners such as BHP and Alcoa, and major water authorities. Every tank is made to order for one chemical.

Resin matched to the chemical

The resin system is selected for the chemical and concentration stored, for high resistance to chemical attack.

Smooth glass-resin interior

A smooth inner surface reduces maintenance and extends service life.

100% watertight

No on-site sealed joints.

Self-bunded chemical tanks

Double-wall, self-bunded construction where secondary containment is required, with leak monitoring between the walls if you want it.

Engineer-certified design

Every tank is designed and certified by a composite materials engineer.

Drawings approved first

Project drawings go to you for approval before manufacture.

Applications

Acid storage

Bulk storage for acids, with the resin system and laminate chosen for the acid and its concentration.

Stores
  • Fluorosilicic acid
  • Ferric chloride
  • Other acids, by chemical and concentration
Typical applications
  • Chemical processing
  • Mining and mineral processing
  • Oil and gas
  • Water treatment (fluoridation)

Caustic soda & hypochlorite

Storage for sodium hydroxide, sodium hypochlorite and other alkaline chemicals. The smooth glass-resin interior reduces maintenance and extends service life.

Stores
  • Sodium hydroxide (caustic soda)
  • Sodium hypochlorite
  • Other alkaline chemicals, by concentration
Typical applications
  • Water and wastewater treatment
  • Chemical processing
  • Mining and mineral processing
  • Oil and gas

Chemical dosing tanks

A dosing tank holds the working volume that feeds a dosing pump or metering system. Nozzle sizes, fitting materials and configuration are built to match the dosing skid and the site.

Stores
  • Sodium hypochlorite
  • Sodium hydroxide
  • Aluminium sulphate
  • Ferric chloride
Typical applications
  • Water and wastewater treatment dosing
  • Chemical processing plants
  • Mining and mineral processing

Water treatment chemicals

Water and sewage treatment plants store a range of process chemicals on site. Each tank is made for one chemical, with the resin chosen for it.

Stores
  • Sodium hypochlorite
  • Aluminium sulphate
  • Ferric chloride
  • Fluorosilicic acid
  • Coagulant
  • Sodium hydroxide
Typical applications
  • Water treatment plants
  • Sewage treatment plants
  • Fluoridation and disinfection
  • Council and utility chemical storage

Chemicals we store

Chemical resistance depends on the medium, concentration and temperature. Tell us what you store and our engineers confirm the laminate.

How a chemical tank is made

1

Send your spec

The chemical, concentration, temperature, volume and site. A sales engineer covering your state replies within 2 business days.

2

Laminate & drawings

Our engineers select the resin system. The design is certified by a composite materials engineer and drawings come to you for approval.

3

Manufacture

Built to order at our ISO 9001 sites, with fittings to suit your pipework and dosing equipment.

4

Delivery

Delivered to site. Very large vessels can be built in sections and assembled on site.

Common questions

For other questions, call NSW +61 2 4964 8270 or WA +61 8 9434 1707.

Acids such as fluorosilicic acid and ferric chloride; alkalis such as sodium hydroxide (caustic soda) and sodium hypochlorite; and water treatment chemicals including aluminium sulphate and coagulant. For anything else, send us the chemical and concentration.
For the chemical, its concentration and its temperature. Tell us what you store and our engineers confirm the laminate before we quote.
Up to 75,000L above-ground, depending on location, and up to 500,000L underground. Larger vessels can be built in sections and assembled on site, as with the eight 230,000L leach tanks at Cosmic Boy.
Yes. Tanks come single-wall or self-bunded (double-wall), horizontal or vertical, above-ground or underground. Leak monitoring between the walls can be added if you want it.
AS 2634, BS 4994 and ASME RTP-1, with every design certified by a composite materials engineer.
Yes. We make replacement tanks to suit the existing site and connections. See chemical storage tank removal and replacement.
