Background
The Sino Iron project built a mine 100 km south-west of Karratha to export iron ore through Cape Preston. At peak construction it employed 4,000 people, which called for a large accommodation village with a new sewage system.
The challenge
At such a remote site, ready-mix concrete and skilled labour to install pumps and pipework were scarce, so the more work done off site, the better.
The solution
Mullaly supplied two 3 m × 5 m deep wet well and valve pit combos, fully fitted out with two 100 mm discharge Homa pumps, leaving only external pipework, electrics and final pump installation on site.
Installation took under a week, against more than six weeks for in-situ concrete, with less labour and crane time on site.
Products and scope
Products: two Mullaly fibreglass wet well and valve pit combos with Homa pumps.
Our scope: manufacture and full fit-out off site, leaving only external pipework, electrics and pump installation on site.
